FFC ERT Members,
We are in the initial stage of spooling up a team to go to North Carolina to assist Samaritan's Purse with hurricane Helene relief. This email is to gauge our member's interest in responding. We have a potential leader lined up for October 6th, but if there's somebody who would be interested in leading a team before then, please let me know via response to this email.
The work in Asheville will be access and assisting homeowners in salvage. Samaritan's Purse has equipment on the ground, but would love our help in the relief work. Like all FFC deployments, we would be meeting tangible needs on the ground while making access to first responder networks. At that point, coordination would happen with SP so that we could break away and minister directly to firefighter families.
Initial steps for this deployment will be to go to SPvolunteer.org and register with them directly. Secondly, follow the link at the bottom of this email and join the Helene response WhatsApp group which is where any further communication will come from. I'm in communication with SP leadership, and will be able to communicate next steps as soon as I get them.
It's an honor to serve alongside you brothers and sisters in Christ. Please be in prayer for all those affected by the storm and for all the hardship that is sure to follow.
John Klewer, FFD ERT Co-lead, Fresno Fire Dept
